Alexander A Murguia

October 14, 1943 ~ November 6, 2018 (age 75) 75 Years Old

Tribute

Alex was born in Phoenix, Arizona in 1943 to Carolina and Alex Murguia. His three older sisters were Anadean, Dolores and Marilu. Alex was born thirteen years after Marilu, the youngest sister. He grew up among 17 nieces and nephews, who because of their closeness in age became like brothers and sisters to him. He attended Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School in East L.A. and El Rancho High School in Pico Rivera. After high school he attended Ventura College until he joined the Marine Corp in 1963. He proudly served in the Marines overseas and in the States. In 1965 he married Lucille Flores, his childhood sweetheart whom he met in the third grade. They lived in Alhambra and soon moved to Buffalo, New York where Alex was a recruiter for the USMC. After an honorable discharge in 1967, they lived in Montebello, CA where Alex began his career in manufacturing management and attended Woodbury College, graduating with a B.S. degree in International Business and a minor in Production Control. Alex and Lucille moved to Huntington Beach in 1972 and have lived in the same house since. However, Alex moved the family to Puerto Rico for four years while he oversaw the construction of a manufacturing facility. The family moved again a few years later to El Centro, CA where Alex built another facility south of the border in Mexicali, Mexico. The family returned to their H.B. home each time. Alex and Lucille have two sons, Matthew and Adam. Matthew and his wife Valeri have three children, Cruz, Mateo and Sofia. Adam and his wife Nancy have two sons, Cortez and Aidan. Alex and Lucille enjoyed traveling, especially cruises. As recently as 2016 they sailed for 30 days through the Panama Canal on Princess Cruise Line visiting several countries along the way. Alex loved spending time in Sedona, Arizona. He appreciated the beauty of the area and artistic efforts of the locals. Throughout his life Alex’s focus has been his family and especially his grandchildren. He was involved in their education and activities. He enjoyed attending their sporting events and never missed a Servite High School game that his grandsons participated in, whether it was football, volleyball, soccer or wrestling. His grandchildren were truly the highlight of his life. Thank you to our friends and family for their support and love during these last few years. We love you.
