Annette Bernice Armstrong

August 9, 1939 ~ November 2, 2018 (age 79) 79 Years Old

Tribute

Annette Bernice Armstrong, a long-time resident of Huntington Beach, passed away suddenly on November 2, 2018, in her home.

She was born Bernice Annette Doughty to Sam and Thelma Doughty on August 9, 1939 in Salem, Oregon. It was there that she developed a strong work ethic – working on the family farm and driving a tractor at age 10 – and was also successful in school, being at the top of her class and learning to play the flute. She left the farm at age 19 with bigger dreams and headed to Southern California. It was there that she met the love of her life, Robert Thomas “Nick” Armstrong, got married and soon started a family. Annette had a long and successful career of operation and office management in the construction business. She and her husband enjoyed traveling with both friends and family, whether it was by plane to Europe or seeing the country in their motorhome. Annette had many hobbies, including cross-stitch where she won several medals, sewing, gardening, cooking and playing card games. She was a member of the Huntington Beach Newcomers Club, where she served as both Treasurer and Social Chairperson. It was with this group of fun women that she spent time enjoying life in her later years. She always had a positive spirit, kind heart, joyful laugh and loved meeting new people.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, and is survived by her two children, Michael Armstrong (wife Susan) and Michele Creason (husband Eric), her four grandchildren, Kyle (wife Chelsea), Chad (fiancée Christy), Matthew and Sarah, and two great grandchildren, Kayla and Cooper – all who loved her very much and will miss her dearly.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, November 14, 2018, at Heritage-Dilday Mortuary, located at 17911 Beach Blvd., Huntington Beach.  A reception for family and close friends will follow at her home.
