Robert Joseph Mueller

Robert Joseph Mueller, 86, of Westminster, California, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, April 24, 2021.

On March 27, 1935 in Tiffin, Ohio, he was born to Frank Joseph and Edith Eveline (Swartz) Mueller.  He married Leona Bernadine Rodziewicz on January 17, 1959 at St. Ladislaus Catholic Church in Hamtramck, Michigan.  They were married for 62 years.

Survivors include his wife, Leona; four children, Robert Jr. (SharLynn) of Stansbury Park, UT; Daniel (Connie) of San Clemente; Karen (Bill) Muller of Centerville, OH; and Thomas of Westminster, CA; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.  He is also survived by his brother, C. Michael (Dee) of St George, UT.

He was preceded in death by his parents and six siblings, Rev. Eugene Mueller, Joanne E. (Brickner), John Edward, Margaret (Ahle), Richard Lewis, and James Allen.

Bob was a graduate of Tiffin Calvert High School Class of 1953 and of the University of Detroit, where he graduated with a degree in Business and Commerce in 1957.  He met his wife, Lee, at the University of Detroit during their senior year.  After graduating, Bob joined the National Guard where he fulfilled his military duty state-side for two years.

Robert began working for the State of Michigan as a revenue tax auditor in 1958.  After 11 years in the Detroit-area, he transferred to Tempe, Arizona and finally to Westminster, California where he worked as an out-of-state auditor.  In 1987, he started the State of Michigan’s California revenue and tax office and was its first audit supervisor.  He retired in 1993 after thirty-four years of service.

Bob was active with the Boys Scouts of America, St. Bonaventure Church Men’s Club, and the Long Beach Bridge Center where he reached the level of Life Master.  He and Lee volunteered with the Orange County Meals on Wheels Program for over ten years.  What he most cherished was spending time with his family, playing cards, attending his children and grandchildren’s sporting events, and supporting the Los Angeles Angels and Los Angeles Dodgers baseball teams. 

His mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, April 29 at 3:30 pm at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church located at 16400 Springdale St, Huntington Beach, CA 92649. There will be no viewing.

He will be laid to rest at a later date at St Joseph Catholic Cemetery in his hometown of Tiffin, Ohio where a memorial mass will also take place at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
