Ruth Chamberlin

January 15, 1935 ~ September 11, 2020 (age 85) 85 Years Old

Tribute

Ruth Elaine Chamberlin was resting at home when she passed away on September 11, 2020, while holding her daughter’s hand.  Elaine was born on January 15, 1935 in Modesto, CA, weighing only 3lbs 4 oz. During those times, it was rare for a child that size to survive; however, she had a healthy heart that stayed strong until the day she went to be with her Lord and Savior. She led a valiant fight against dementia for several years but always remembered those in her life that meant a lot to her.

In her youth, she was enthusiastic about music and her piano playing. She played for the school Christmas program for a solid hour in 1948 when she was just 12 years of age. She started playing as a youth pianist for the First Nazarene Church in 1953.  After high school, she saved her money and purchased her first car that she kept for 13 years and never missed a Sunday picking up people for Sunday school and church.

She worked at Toastmasters before marriage.  In 1962, friends, Sam and June Love, invited her to Community Bible Church (now Cornerstone Christian Fellowship) where she met a young man named Eldon Chamberlin, whom she married on her 30th birthday in 1965; soon after their marriage, they were blessed with two children. Ruth was a homemaker for many years and devoted her time to being a wife, mom, and foster mom to many, before she went to work at AAA in Costa Mesa, CA until retirement. She always made room at the dinner table for anyone that came at dinnertime. She was very involved in her church and enjoyed hosting gatherings in her home. In 2018, she moved to Katy, TX, to spend her last years near her daughter and grandson.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Eldon; parents, Robert Delmer & Margaret Haddock; and her brothers, Delmer, Robert, and George Haddock.

She leaves behind her brother, Glen Haddock of Anaheim, CA; son, Robert of Irvine, CA; daughter Janet of Simonton, TX; and grandchildren Jessica Roughton and husband Kyle of Arlington, WA and Alexander Fenimore of Simonton, TX.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution can be made to the Youth Fund at Cornerstone Christian Fellowship, 17575 Euclid St., Fountain Valley, CA, 92708 or Bluebonnet Equine Humane Society (www.bluebonnetequine.org).
